It has been decided at Lyndon B. Johnson hospital that there will be no more Sodexo and it will be transferred to harris country district. Sodexo is a company that is seperate from the hospital but they work with harris county. As of December 31st of 2010 the transfer to harris county will be made official. I work for the hospital and I work for the department of Sodexo. I am concerned because I wonder if i will be able to keep my job because this is a whole new transition and I am sure they will not keep everyone who already is working for the company. It is assumed that they are trying to keep everyone and just simply transfer everyone over but it is not guaranteed. I also question why do they have to get rid of the main managers that work for sodexo. Can't they just transfer them as well? However, this is not the case and no benefits are being transfered over as well and I will presumably be put on another ninety day probabtion period in which after the ninety days are up they will ultimatley decide if they want to keep me or not. In other words I have to start over again..again. It is not being discussed as to why the Sodexo company and their contract has ubruptly ended, and I would like to know why...

In order to legalize gay marriage, you have to get it approved through proposition eight. Once it is approved through this proposition, then it goes to the head of the board. The same process is now being brought up for the legalization of marijuana in california. This is not really a good idea, because of the effects it has on the brain and the individual itself. People already complain about drinking and driving and just imagine if you are high and drunk? Legalizing marijuana has its pros and cons, however when it come to making this descion, you have to think about if it is a good result over all. The answer to this is..NO! Yes the crime rate will go down because then drug dealers wont have to sell it because of the fact its a public drug. Marijuana is the number one drug that is used today. However, all this is doing is making the drug public instead of making it a secret behind the law. When you think about the children and their safety, being around the subtance can cause short and long term affects in the brain. I can understand if the drug is legalized to a certain extent such as for medical use only. Other than that, marijuana is used for pleasure or an escape. In california, it is said individuals can a have a pound of weed in their homes or anywhere. The government can get money from this, and if this is the only issue that concerns them, then we definantly have a problem greater than legalizing marijuana in California.

Time Managment

Recently I did a project on time managment in one of the classes i am in called the challenger program. This class to help you discover who you are and help you at your weakest points in college and outside of school. One of my weak points is time management and this class is helping me to have a balance in my academic standing as well as outside of class. I am a full time student and also a full time worker at my job. That is 40 hours a week of work and it is said I have to sudy atleast 2 to 3 hours each subject I have in each class which is twelve hours a day which makes it 60 hours in a regular 5 day course. So as you can see, it does not add up in my book. However, besides all this time managment i have trouble keeping up with, I am doing fairly descent in all of my classes. It is a matter of using your time wisely when there is time on you hands. It also a choice for one to decide what comes first. School is the number one priority in my book, even if there is bills on the side. Sometimes it does get a little fustrating, but I dont give up or atleast try not to. I also learned in my class that when i have an issue, it is not good to put it to the side or brush it off because this is not the solution to the problem; when i wake up it will still be there. I have to be focused all the way til the end of the semester, then I can finally relax. As for work, there will always be work, but that is what comes to growing up and being responsible. I enjoy this class I am taking and it is helping down the right road in the choices i will make.

I got Money to Blow?
As for everyone who is experiencing the college life with the luxury of gaining more independence and liberty from home, I bet you are also experiencing a slimmer wallet. The tuition of college and attending a university is going up every year. There has to be another alternative to this issue. And you wonder why the increase of drop out rates rise as the tuition rates rise. The families who are stuck in the middle and are classified as "middle class" families are expected to pay for their child's college education. However this is not the case because their income they make goes to other expenses that are needed such as house insurance, car insurance, life insurance, and other important matters as well. I don't think it is fair for families like this who will not recieve any kind of grants to help pay for their child's education. You have to be 'poor' or have a big family in order for you to recieve the max in financial aid. And because of this, students who want to go to college, can not go to the college of their choice because the "better" it is the more expensive the tutution is in attending. I believe it should be equal in getting a quality education. Why does money really have to be a neccesity in where you go? Is it because of the location of the school? the population who attend? Whatever the reason may be, as long as tuition rates go up, the less students who will be going and this over all will hurt our future and potential workers who could possibly make a difference today but can not pursue this because of the problem of money...
